Biffle's 4th-place Finish is One of Three Top 10s for Team Valvoline at Indy
INDIANAPOLIS -- Greg Biffle's fourth-place finish in Sunday's Allstate 400 at the Brickyard led Team Valvoline with three top-10 finishes at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Also scoring strong finishes for Team Valvoline were Kasey Kahne (eighth) and Matt Kenseth (10th).
"It was a good points day for us, and we need every point we can get right now," said Biffle. "It was just too bad we had to let up and save fuel at the end. We only lost one spot, but I had to let Tony Stewart go by there at the end to save fuel. I really hated to do that -- it's hard for a race car driver with a fast car to let up, but that's what we needed to do to finish, and we did what we had to do."
In the Sprint Cup point standings Team Valvoline has four drivers positioned in the top 12, the cutoff for making the Chase. Carl Edwards is fifth, Kahne eighth, Biffle 11th and Kenseth 12th.
The race winner was Jimmie Johnson. Rounding out the top-five in order were: Mark Martin, Tony Stewart, Biffle and Brian Vickers.
In Saturday night's Nationwide Series race at O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis, Edwards passed Kyle Busch with 22 laps remaining to win the 200-mile event at the one-mile oval.
"It was a pretty good battle," said Edwards. "That was hard, hard racing. It meant a lot to get the win here. This is a very special race for me."
It was the second Nationwide win of the season for Edwards and the 22nd of his career. It was also the 10th win in NASCAR competition this season for Team Valvoline.
