Edwards, Biffle Score Top 5s For Team Valvoline in Watkins Glen Cup Race

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (Aug. 10, 2009) -- Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle led Team Valvoline in Monday's rain-delayed Sprint Cup road race at Watkins Glen International.

The strong Valvoline showing at the 2.45-mile road circuit included a third-place finish by Edwards and a fifth-place result for Biffle. Four other Valvoline drivers scored top-20 finishes -- AJ Allmendinger (13th), Matt Kenseth (14th), Kasey Kahne (17th) and Bobby Labonte (20th).

"That was fun. I appreciate all of the fans coming out here on Monday," said Edwards in post-race interviews. "I think NASCAR did the right thing to have the race today. Yesterday, I wanted to race really bad in the wet, but it turned out great for us today. This Aflac Fusion was good -- my guys did a great job."

Biffle's impressive fifth-place run vaulted him from 12th to 10th in the driver points standings. He is one of four Valvoline drivers currently inside the 12-driver Chase cutline with four races remaining before the 10-race championship playoff begins. Edwards is sixth, Kahne eighth and Kenseth 12th.

The race winner was Tony Stewart. Rounding out the top five in order were: Marcos Ambrose, Edwards, Kyle Busch and Biffle.

In Saturday's NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Watkins Glen, Team Valvoline placed three drivers in the top 10 -- Edwards was third, Biffle seventh and David Ragan was eighth.
