Biffle Leads Team Valvoline in Bristol Cup Race with 4th-Place Finish; Ragan Wins Bristol Nationwide Event
BRISTOL, Tenn.-- Team Valvoline driver Greg Biffle posted a strong fourth-place finish in Saturday night's Sharpie 500 Sprint Cup race at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Also scoring a top-10 for Team Valvoline was Matt Kenseth who came home 10th in the 500-lap race at the half-mile oval.
Reed Sorenson, driving the No. 43 Valvoline Dodge, finished 19th.
Biffle, who led twice for 76 laps, claimed his eighth top-five finish of the season.
"We were just off a little bit, but it was a good night," said Biffle. "It's too bad that caution came out at the end - we were going to finish third, might have had an opportunity to get up there."
With two races remaining before the 10-race, 12-driver Chase begins -- Sept. 6 at Atlanta and Sept. 12 at Richmond -- Team Valvoline continues to have four drivers inside the Chase cut line. Carl Edwards is fifth, Biffle eighth, Kasey Kahne 11th and Kenseth 12th.
Saturday night's race winner was Kyle Busch. Rounding out the top five in order were: Mark Martin, Marcos Ambrose, Biffle and Denny Hamlin.
In Friday night's Nationwide event at Bristol, David Ragan won for the second time this season as he held off Edwards in a two-lap green-white-checkered finish. Kenseth finished fifth, giving Team Valvoline three top-fives in the 250-lap race.
The Sprint Cup Series has the upcoming weekend off while the Nationwide Series will be in Montreal for Sunday's (Aug. 30) road race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. The Camping World Truck Series will be at Chicagoland Speedway for a Friday night race.
