Sylvania 300 Preview - Reed Sorenson

STATEVILLE, N.C. - No. 43 Dodge driver Reed Sorenson calls New Hampshire Motor Speedway his favorite track in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The 23-year-old Georgian posted three top-17 finishes in the last four races. One of the keys to the flat mile oval is survival - something Sorenson has excelled at over the last year. His 52 race streak without a DNF - did not finish - is the longest non-consecutive streak in Sprint Cup racing. (It's non-consecutive because Sorenson sat out the road course race at Infineon last season.) Sorenson's Richard Petty Motorsports teammate Elliott Sadler's and Tony Stewart's streak of 49 races is the longest consecutive race streak. The Petty team has raced in 156 races without a DNF - the longest in the sport.

Sorenson Quotes

SORENSON ON NEW HAMSPHIRE SPEEDWAY- "As I have said before I really don't know why I like that track so much. I grew up in the ASA (American Speed Association) racing on short tracks similar to New Hampshire. I guess it kind of fits my driving style. It's a fun track. I think with the double file restarts the races are even better now. The place is packed every time we go up there."

DNF STREAK - "That's a cool stat. Trust me, I'd rather have a few wins but yeah that's something we can take pride in. You try to stay out of trouble on the track and then if you do get into trouble and have problems you know you have a crew that's going to get you fixed up as quickly as possible and get back out there. If you have ever seen these teams work on cars after a wreck you know how much a team effort it is. It looks chaotic but everyone has their job and they get it done as quick as they can. Points are points and you'll take them when you can. You never want to wreck, but if you do you have to beat the other guys back to the track."
