Sadler, Biffle Score Top 10s for Team Valvoline in New Hampshire Cup Race
LOUDON, N.H. (Sept. 20, 2009) -- Leading the way for Team Valvoline in Sunday's Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway were Elliott Sadler and Greg Biffle.
Sadler, out of the Richard Petty Motorsports camp, finished eighth. Biffle, one of the 12 Chase drivers, posted a ninth-place result in the opening round of the 10-race Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.
The two other Valvoline Chase drivers -- Carl Edwards finished 17th and Kasey Kahne, who had engine issues, finished 38th.
"I guess it was okay, " said Biffle. "I really thought I could run up front with those guys. All I needed to do was get track position and I could have been there. That was it - track position all day. I fought to get up there. I knew that once I got up there I could run with them, but I could just never get there."
Sadler, who posted his fourth top-10 of the season said, "We made wholesale changes from last night that really helped our Stanley Dodge. This race was very gratifying for everyone on this team. We found some things that I like to have in the racecar that we can build from here on out."
In the Chase standings, Biffle is ninth, Edwards 11th and Kahne 12th. (see complete Chase standings below)
The race winner was Mark Martin. Rounding out the top five in order were: Denny Hamlin, Juan Pablo Montoya, Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch.
The next Chase race is Sunday (Sept. 27) at Dover (Del.) International Speedway.
