Chase Drivers Biffle, Kahne, Edwards Score Top 10s for Team Valvoline in Kansas Cup Race
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Oct. 4, 2009) -- Team Valvoline produced three top-10 results in Sunday's Price Chopper 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at the 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway.
Leading the Big V attack was Greg Biffle with a third-place finish -- equaling his best result of the 2009 season. Kasey Kahne was sixth and Missouri native Carl Edwards came home 10th.
All three drivers gained one spot in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup point standings. With seven races remaining, Biffle is eighth in points while Edwards is 10th and Kahne 11th.
Biffle, who led six different times for a race high of 113 laps in the 267-lap, 400-mile event, said, "It's quite a bit of emotion for us today because we really, truly have not been running up to our standard this year. At one point late in the race it looked like we were going to have this thing won fairly easily, depending on how the cautions fell. We were able to beat them on the re-starts. So that was real exciting for our team to run like that. We're sure excited to be running good again, especially going to some tracks we like, such as California and some other places. I'm having the time of my life."
The race winner was Tony Stewart. Rounding out the top-five in order were: Jeff Gordon, Biffle, Juan Pablo Montoya and Denny Hamlin.
In Saturday's NASCAR Nationwide race, Biffle finished fifth while Edwards posted a seventh-place result.
Persistent rain showers throughout the day Sunday forced NHRA officials to postpone eliminations for the O'Reilly NHRA Mid-South Nationals at Memphis Motorsports Park until Monday.
